Social Development

Let's go beyond financial growth

Social
Development

What is it to be wealthy? Is it money in an account or in an investment? Or is it the kind of person we become, measured by the imprint we leave on this world? At Nucleus, we believe it’s the latter and because we do, our commitment to creating legacies goes beyond Financial Planning.

Social
Development

What is it to be wealthy? Is it money in an account or in an investment? Or is it the kind of person we become, measured by the imprint we leave on this world? At Nucleus, we believe it’s the latter and because we do, our commitment to creating legacies goes beyond Financial Planning.

Giving back to less fortunate communities is not just a box we tick because it’s required to be socially responsible, we do it because it is who we are.

Creating a better future for others is at the core of what we do, and doing our part to build a more equitable society for all, does exactly that for future generations. This dedication to making a positive impact on our local and global communities has focused on areas such as: education, the performing arts, medical care, animal welfare, tourism, orphanages, and disability facilities. We are proud to say that through our commitment to ESG (environment, social and corporate governance) principles we have been rated as ‘compliant’ through an approved assessment process. However, there is still so much work that needs to be done and we remain committed to doing it.

Our Causes

Umwalimo

Nucleus part sponsored Umwalimo’s (Wally) final 3 years of high school at Constantia Waldorf. He went on to study International Relations at Stellenbosch University and is currently working as a Political Risk Analyst for a commercial intelligence and risk management firm based in Cape Town.

LoMantang

In 2008 Deon travelled with a team of Nucleus clients and friends to Nepal to embark on a 17 day hike to LoMantang, a Tibetan Kingdom. Here he met Lama Pasang in the town of Pokhara and was touched by the dedication of the ‘Himalayan Children’s Care and Environment Conservation Organisation’ and added the initiative to Nucleus's Giving Back program.

ZipZap Circus

Through the generosity of ZipZap, experienced by Deon for his daughters ‘no fee’ participation in ZipZap circus, Nucleus felt it necessary to put ZipZap on its ‘Giving Back’ list. ZipZap Circus is a vibrant, uniquely South African social and professional circus that was founded in Cape Town in 1992. Through circus arts it inspires and empowers young people from all walks of life to pursue their dreams.

HBVEMS

In 1994 Nucleus sponsored "Hout Bay Volunteers Emergency Medical Service” (HBVEMS) with a new Toyota vehicle converted into an Ambulance. HBVEMS is Cape Town's oldest Volunteer EMS, having started in 1994 by a group of Hout Bay residents passionate about serving their community. Since then the service has gone from strength to strength thanks to the support of generous donors.

Amado

Amado offers a free equine therapy programme for those who cannot afford it. The AIM of therapy with horses is to free participants from their shackles, be it a wheelchair or emotional constraints. Interaction on or beside the horse improves motor skills and mental development. It nurtures self-confidence and promotes independence that will open doors to a productive future.

Karbonkelberg Tourism

In 2015 Nucleus assisted Brent Thomas through Hout Bay Partnership to establish Karbonkelberg Tourism, one of Hout Bay's most loved adventure tour companies. When next in Hout Bay look them up, all that needs to be said will be said by Brent. We remain passionate in our partnership with Brent, our most hands on Giving Back initiative.

She eagerly awaits a call up to Italy’s Womans Professional League or 2nd Division Team in Sweden/Portugal.

NSRI

In 2021, Deon and a companion set off for a deep-sea fishing expedition off Stilbaai. Their boat was flipped over by a rogue wave while they were four miles offshore, which was a harrowing experience. Thankfully, they were rescued by the NSRI and remain forever grateful to them.
